Chris McCoin
Principal
Prior to founding McCoin & Smith Communications with Richard Smith,
Chris was Director of Marketing for Trellix (the award-winning, Internet start-up company
founded by Dan Bricklin). In this capacity, she developed cross-functional product and company
re-branding strategies, executed product launches and lead generation activity,
managed ongoing public relations activities and Web site content and assisted in helping grow
the organization's customer reference program. Before Trellix, Chris managed the
Emerging Business, Lotus Solutions and Intel related accounts at Lois Paul and Partners (LP&P).
While at LP&P, Chris helped develop the strategic direction, and oversaw the tactical implementation,
of a variety of PR programs aimed at "hot" young start-ups and emerging businesses.
Under her direction, her team was able to accomplish significant results, essentially putting
many of these new up-and-comers on the map.
Prior to joining LP&P, Chris was an independent consultant developing marketing strategies,
PR initiatives and lead generation programs for a variety of small to mid-sized organizations.
Chris also served as Marketing Communications Manager for Vitronix,
a full-service computer distributor and held several marketing positions at PINE,
a large, non-profit institution.
Richard J. Smith
Principal
Before founding McCoin & Smith Communications with Christine McCoin,
Rick served in senior management roles at two high-technology public relations firms,
developing and implementing strategic and tactical PR programs for a wide range of established
and emerging high-technology clients. At Rogers Communications Inc.,
Rick managed both enterprise software and hardware accounts and was responsible for doubling
account revenue.
While at Lois Paul & Partners (LP&P), Rick was responsible for the overall direction
of Lotus Development's Industry Analyst Relations Program and The Lotus Business Partners Program.
In this capacity, he led his teams in garnering extensive media coverage for numerous
emerging "high-tech" business partners, while developing and managing key industry analyst relationships.
In addition, he increased account revenue by more than fifty percent.
Before his tenure with PR agencies, Rick was responsible for worldwide public relations
for a major division of AMP Inc.-a manufacturer of wireless telecommunications subsystems.
In this position, Rick developed, implemented and cultivated the company's North American and
European public relations programs.
In addition to PR, Rick was the Editor-in Chief of an internationally circulated product and
technology magazine.
Rick has held positions in logistics management, manufacturing project management and sales.
Prior to attending university, Rick served with distinction in the United States Navy.
